documenting my weight loss after having a baby.
umm...i can't think of anything to go here

Today was fantastic! I got the news that I don't have anything scarier than a couple of blown out meniscus (menisci?) in each knee, and some swelling around my patella. Whew! I had physical therapy, my therapist taped up my knees, did some ultrasound, and gave me some exercises...yay!! Hopefully I won't have to have surgery if I can deal with the pain. I'm so relieved...given the options, mechanical things going wrong with my body are far preferable to neurological things. They are much easier to fix.

I had a pretty average eating day, though it doesn't seem to matter, since everything that I'm eating seems to run right through me anyway. (I think its the meds, but I'll get used to them and will be fine). The other great thing that happened today was that a very good friend who has been away teaching kids in China for 6 months surprised everyone (her whole family, our whole family, etc) with her presence for the holidays! What a blast! She met our son for the first time, and she seems to be doing a lot better than she was when she was here...could just be that she now appreciates warm water, clean bathrooms, ovens, and American television.

Her mom and sisters came over for a visit too, and they brought homemade shortbread (a weakness of mine, to be sure) and then they made cookies. I don't think they knew I was trying to lose weight. I could have told them, but what the hell..they were having fun. But they LEFT every single cookie here! Damn! So, I'm going to toss them in the freezer and bring them out when my husband's family shows up for Christmas! Good times, less work for me! I did have some shortbread though, but while they were playing with the baby, I came upstairs and tried on a pair of pre pregnancy pants that were a little tight before I was pregnant and they ALMOST fit well...so that was my incentive not to over do it today. My daughter is spending time with my parents this weekend, and my son seems to be fighting the sniffles...I hope we don't all get the dread killer flu. We've all had the shot, (my daughter and I because we have asthma, and my husband so he wouldn't get it and give it to the baby, who is too young to get the shot). It would be lame to be sick over Christmas.

But I'm thinking positively! And I am oh so proud of sticking with it over the holidays!! Yeah!
